4,000 Rockets fired at Israel and the media and leaders only care about Gaza??

Dear Israel Supporter,

I’ve had enough. I, too, want peace. But since Israel gave up all of Gaza in August 2005 in hopes of peace, all Israel has gotten is more than 4,000 rockets fired at her citizens. Children are being targeted and innocent people killed. We must wake the world up to the facts. That’s why we need your help to support a TV ad campaign in Washington, DC where America’s leaders and top reporters can learn the facts. But we need your financial support to run the ads on CNN, FOX News, MSNBC and other channels in the nation’s capital.

See TIP's new ad.

The fact is that the rockets from Gaza into Israel started 7 years ago. First many world leaders said the rockets would stop when the “occupation of Gaza” stopped. But then Israel gave up all of Gaza in 2005. I was there. I watched as 9,000 Jews who had lived in Gaza were forced to move so that Israel could jump-start a peace process. Families gave up their homes, businesses, schools, and places of work and worship. Israel left the Palestinians greenhouses and critical infrastructure so that they could give up jihad and have jobs. Israel gave up all the land and continued to provide power and water to the Palestinian people. What happened? Many Palestinians voted for Hamas, a terrorist organization whose stated goal is destroying Israel, and Hamas took control of Gaza in a violent coup. Iran-backed Hamas leaders in Gaza have chosen jihad over jobs – and now the world is blaming Israel for wanting to protect her citizens from rockets? TIP needs your help in order to educate the media about what is really going on in Gaza.

Indeed, Gaza is now controlled by Hamas which has received tens of millions of dollars in aid from Iran – a country who’s President has repeatedly said he wants to “wipe Israel off the map.” Now, the total number of rockets that have fallen on Israeli towns since the disengagement from Gaza has eclipsed the total number of missiles fired by Hezbollah into Israel’s northern neighborhoods during the Hezbollah war in the summer of 2006. To date, Israeli checkpoints and other measures have kept the terrorists in Gaza from getting the kind of sophisticated missiles and other weapons that the Iran-backed terrorists have on Israel’s northern border. However, now the border of Gaza to Egypt is open and more weapons are coming in.

So what is the world doing? Complaining that Israel over-reacted to the rockets. International pressure on Israel is demanding that Israel give up these lifesaving controls. The time to take a stand is NOW! We must keep these ads on the air so that reporters and leaders understand the truth – that no Israeli should be forced to be a wooden duck in a shooting gallery. No Israeli child should have to play a game of real-life Russian roulette when he/she wants to go on a playground!

With your help, TIP’s television ad campaign will air in Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland on CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, FOX News, CNBC as well as various other prominent shows and channels. The goal is to ensure that the ad is watched around the clock by members of the White House staff and Congress, opinion makers and scores of media staff throughout our nation’s capital. These ads will catch the attention of the public and make a positive difference for Israel.

There is no question that the Israeli government and the Israeli people want peace. I believe that many Palestinians also want peace and a better future. Yet, instead of building new schools and roads in Gaza, Iran-backed Hamas builds rockets and continues to act against the best interests of its own people by attacking innocent Israelis over and over again. Just this week Hamas created a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza strip by using its financial and other resources to fire rockets on Israelis instead of using its resources to help the citizens of Gaza.

We need to make sure that people know these facts.

Five-year-old Lior Ben Shimon was seriously wounded when a Qassam hit her neighbor's
home on Jan. 16, 2008.

What would you want America to do if every day rockets were coming over the border and hitting your children's schools and playgrounds?

The fact is that for seven years Israel has been under attack while the world ignored the facts. If the peace process jump-started in Annapolis is to have any meaning, all the countries that came together there must help make the rockets being fired out of Gaza stop. TIP's goal with this campaign is to wake up the world to the fact that the time for a REAL peace is now. Please help TIP relay this message to the media and the public

The world needs to know about this and support Israel’s right to take measured actions to defend itself in the face of such terrorist attacks. Please help support The Israel Project's efforts to get the straight facts to the media and the world.
