Help Wanted, No Private Sector Experience Required

A friend sends along the following chart from a J.P. Morgan research report. It examines the prior private sector experience of the cabinet officials since 1900 that one might expect a president to turn to in seeking advice about helping the economy. It includes secretaries of State, Commerce, Treasury, Agriculture, Interior, Labor, Transportation, Energy, and Housing & Urban Development, and excludes Postmaster General, Navy, War, Health, Education & Welfare, Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security—432 cabinet members in all. When one considers that public sector employment has ranged since the 1950s at between 15 percent and 19 percent of the population, the makeup of the current cabinet—over 90 percent of its prior experience was in the public sector—is remarkable.

Comment:Data speaks and now to see if anyone listens. Here is the truth and every thinking person knows this: you bring to your new job the sum total of your previous experiences and decisions you made along the way. These help shape who you are. They shape one's belief system and out of these evolves the actions you take. You have heard the expression "Oh no I am becoming my parents"? How about checking your own personal belief system, ask yourself do I not believe this way as a result of my previous life experiences? Certainly if you grow up in a loving, caring and giving culture one tends to become the same. Still don't believe this? Then how come you believe that if you grow up in a racist culture this "explains why you are also a racist" is an accurate explanation of so many people's behavior? It is past time of being PC or what I call "explanation specific" whereby you apply one set of justifications to fit your needs and another set to fit other needs-please understand, we humans all form our belief system in the same manner-what varies is the nature of whom we choose to be!

Thus, if a man selects few private business people to offer support and guidance the old adage, "you get what you .. for" is as accurate today as it always has been. Know also that the nearly 5,000 other appointees follow this same model-check it out. Now, you say Mr. Obama is a smart man. If you believe this then you can only conclude that he surrounded himself intentionaly with non-business people in order to change our entire economic and business system-you really wanted this to happen? If so why?
