The ‘Irene’ en route to Ashdod Port, boarded by Israel Navy without incident, 28 Sept 2010

IDF Spokesperson

IDF naval forces boarded the yacht “Irene,” and it is currently being led to the Ashdod seaport along with its passengers.

The boarding occured without incident and no violence of any kind was used by either the passengers onboard or the Israel naval forces. Prior to boarding the yacht, the Israel naval ships transmitted two warnings to its captain, making him aware that they were in danger of breaking both Israeli and international law. These warnings were ignored by the captain and the boat’s passengers; they continued to sail further into the area under naval blockade. Consequently, Israel navy forces intercepted and boarded the ship.

The IDF regrets that it must divert the Israel Navy’s attention from its regular operational activity defending Israel and its citizens because of acts of provocation such as this.

Comment: Of course today in the local media they are playing a different song. A former IDF man claims he was "tasered" and the 82 year old "Holocaust survivor" blamed Israel for the plight of the poor Gazans. With alldue respect for both people,"be'emet". The former IDF soldier knows the rules of engagement and if, I do mean if he was tasered than it was due to his behavior-and he knows this. Might he have provoked such action in order to gain his 15 minutes of failure/ah fame? As far as the plight of Gazans, they got what they voted for-please sir, know your facts-it is Hamas who steals the "aid", it is Hamas who randomly murders its "citizens" and it is Hamas who fires rockets onto our civilian populations. What no remorse for the Israeli citizens killed and maimed by said rockets? No upset with Gazans for illegally holding Gilad for over 4 years and denying him basic human rights?
